About the Author
Sir Denis Forman was a founder member of Granada Television and for many years its Chief Executive and Chairman until his retirement in 1987. During that time he was personally responsible for many of Granada's major drama series including The Jewel in the Crown. Sir Denis was Deputy Chairman of the Royal Opera House for nine years.

Excellent guide to Wagner operas BUT consists mostly of recycled material from another Forman book

This is an excellent light-hearted guide to Wagner's operas, and I would have awarded it 5 stars if not for my disappointment in discovering that it consists mostly of material recycled from another Denis Forman book ("A Night at the Opera"). It does include a few early Wagner operas not covered in the other book, but for most purposes "A Night at the Opera" is better value.

Wonderful knowledge of Wagner's operas

This book has the most useful and excellent insight and plot summary of any Wagner commentary. A great pleasure to read and follow the operas along with. Lohengrin was never given better description. Bravissimo Forman!
